The story

Popina is the unique collaboration between Italian restaurant group Salt Meats Cheese and North Bondi’s Shuk. A two-storey restaurant at Circular Quay’s premium dining precinct, Gateway, Popina brings together the best of the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
The ‘Popina’ was an ancient Roman bar, serving wine and simple Mediterranean food, such as olives and bread. The Popina was a place for Roman slaves, freedmen and foreigners to come together and socialise!

The menu

Designed by Executive Chef, German Sanchez, Popina’s menu pays homage to his Argentinian-Italian roots with a strong Middle Eastern influence.
Our menu celebrates Italian, Israeli, Argentinian and Lebanese influences; cultures and cuisines that draw people together to share.

The location

Located on the second floor of Circular Quay’s Gateway Building, Popina is easily accessible and just a stone’s throw away from trains, ferries, buses and the Sydney Opera House.
